What exactly does European identity constitute? For most Estonians it's the increasing pressure of pouring more money into the EU-s tax coffins. And let's face it-the equivalence does nothing to reduce the status between rich and poor in Estonia, because the rich former communists couldn't care less these days what laws are passed, since nothing can take from their wealth anyway. So what's the real purpose of passing such a clause? Absolutely nothing, except that a minorities' interest are served at the expense of the majority. This law should have been passed years ago when it was possible to get rid of former communists who had a field day in the grab for power. But as usual, it's a law that's come all too late to have any bite to it at all.
