Dudajev17 Feb 2008 10:28
Let me guess..... might maxim be of the same faith as the serbs and russians and therefore a tad biased?
He wants the orthodox slavs to continue dominating the 90%majority Albanians.
Maxim.17 Feb 2008 13:54
I happen to take my ideas from the great Estonian scribbler and intellect Mihkel Mutt, who recently waxed lyrical on the subject of Kosovo from exactly the same viewpoint as I have done. Needless to say, it was I who saw the sense in his article and agreed-you and "ebamaxim" on the other hand see no sense other than in character assassination.

NYT: "The European Commission, the European Union’s executive branch, appealed for calm, while NATO’s secretary general, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, said the alliance would respond “swiftly and firmly against anyone who might resort to violence.”

So, Maxim, if things go smoothly will you admit you are wrong?

Probably, not
BS repelent17 Feb 2008 15:36
You can't admit that you side with serbia and russia on a religious basis . Pathetic. russian or greek orthodoxy is as blindly primitive as muslim wackos.
Maxim.18 Feb 2008 01:07
Certainly, Toomas, I'll admit that I'm wrong. I have no problems whatsoever in admitting I make mistakes, as I have made them in the past and will probably have to contend with making them in the future. One thing I don't do, however, is to commit the unsavoury public crime of victimizing people who express alternative opinions. So if it happens that there is a smooth transition of power in Kosovo, then please, at this moment of writing, accept my deepest apologies for having expressed my concern that violence could break out in this breakaway republic. Maxim.
Maxim.18 Feb 2008 01:12
I wouldn't call it fanatical defence of Lutheranism in your case, since I know that you have certain premonitions about the Orthodox faith. However, if you'd take the time to delve into a little bit of European history then you would discover that there are some remarkable religious instances pertaining to the history of the Orthodox faith of which you seem to know absolutely nothing about. Orthodoxy defends itself from the extremes of what we enouncter as Muslim-related terrorism, and I have never stumbled upon an extremist wing of Orthodoxy in the same way as it is perfectly plausible to stumble upon it whilst researching matters related to the Muslim faith. Perhaps you can enlighten us all by pointing the way to such parallels as you seem to believe exist between Orthodoxy and the Muslim faith.
Paul18 Feb 2008 01:18
Does "a swift and firm response to violence "include the Albanians wishing to defend their newfound freedom? The EU has not made its stand very clear. If it did, it would have made a public statement warning Russia and her allies against provoking aggression against Kosovo. Since it hasn't gone that far, it is perfectly reasonable to assume that one form of violence (assuming a position of attack) is as unacceptable as the other (by defence).
Patriot18 Feb 2008 09:50
Why is the Canadian government supporting the Russian/Serb with regards to independence for Kosovo?
ebamaxim17 Feb 2008 12:46
Lihtsalt ei moista, miks lasete selle ilmselt haige inimese idiootlikud kommentaarid seista Teie auvaarses lehes!? Palun rookige need esimesel voimalusel lehest valja!

Kosovo võibki jääda täiesti omaette võidedes oma iseseisvuse eest. Ainult rasketel aegadel on võimalik teada kes on su tegelikud sõbrad. Albaanlastest hoolib alla poole Eurooplastest.
Tartlane18 Feb 2008 04:41
Gruusia eiras Kosovo Iseseisvuse pooldamist. Võib järeldada et sealse Presidendi väga hea sõber TMI teeb sama otsuse. Kuigi huvitav on jälgida kuidas pime lambakari välismaal arvavad et kõik läheb hästi ja küll Kosovo saab vajaliku toetuse Euroopa Liidult. Olete ikka naiivsed.

Maxim has never retracted a mistake, or, apologized for an insult.

If you can prove me wrong, Maxim, with a specific reference to the EE archives, then I'll promise to never jeer at you again.
Maxim.18 Feb 2008 22:40
Not a problem. About 6 weeks ago Toomas Merilo and I apologized to each other about misgivings, and that has put an end to our differences. I don't see a reason to persist in arguing with anyone, and your enlightened posting alludes to the fact that you are a peaceful-minded human being. The only objection I have anywhere is the vicious nature of character assasination that pervades the minds of some misadventurous Canadian-Estonians.

Teema: Re: Lihtne lahendus Merilole.

Maxim. " So where is your apology Maxim ? Looks like you have been caught telling a lie (again).
Anonymous20 Feb 2008 23:16
Maxim -- you have insulted us viciously and without justification. Never, have you apologized. We are very grateful that you haven't done so recently; but, we haven't forgotten the past and shouldn't have to thank you for not insulting us today.
Maxim.20 Feb 2008 23:27
I find your one-sidedness an appauling shortgiving in your personality. Let's get a few facts straight. I have never used abusive language here against anyone, yet time and again others let fly with the most disgusting innuendo and unprintable language, yet you NEVER have anything to criticize in their case. Yet you constantly seem to find some fault in whatever I do or say. I have even apologized in this commentary section, yet you have completely failed to acknowledge that gesture. I would suggest you look at some of the cruel and vicious language that some of you Canadian compatriots come up with before you come here digging your heels into my goodwill yet again!
I must have missed it21 Feb 2008 09:54
Maxim says it's there, but I've never seen it.
Can anyone, including Maxim, find Maxim's apology in the archives?
Maxim.21 Feb 2008 11:28
If you can't see it, then I'm not exactly going to spell it out for you, because thousands of other readers obviously don't have a problem finding it. Look again, this time very slowly and carefully-somewhere on the first page you'll find what you're looking for. Best wishes to you, Maxim.
Can't take it21 Feb 2008 11:40
Sorry! I keep trying to bite my tongue, having been brought up to not say anything, if I can' say anything nice and to always listen to other people's opinions with an open mind, but it's getting to be too much. You're really pathetic!
I truly feel sorry for you and I hope that you can find help somewhere.
Maxim.21 Feb 2008 12:53
I won't quite go as far as you did because public etiqette is more important than letting your cheap words have any desired effect whatsoever. It's goodwill time-yo know-we're supposed to be celebrating something here. I suppose you prefer not to let that get in the way of mouthing off bad feelings. Pity.
Julius Sepp21 Feb 2008 13:03
I think we all owe Maxim an apology, since he has indeed apologized over the issue of Kosovo's less than peaceful transition, and in the process was rebuked by one writer. The opposite appears to be happening today in that newly-independent Republic. It's about time we understood that Maxim doesn't always get it wrong. Darn it-more often than not he actually get's it right!
Can't take it21 Feb 2008 13:51
Maxim's apology:
"So if it happens that there is a smooth transition of power in Kosovo, then please, at this moment of writing, accept my deepest apologies for having expressed my concern that violence could break out in this breakaway republic. Maxim."
Sorry, but this doesn't sound much like a sincere apology. It sounds like a child's taunting.
Sounds like, "if I get caught looking like a fool, I'll apologize"
Anonymous21 Feb 2008 12:04
As Maxim would say, it's an "appauling" (sic.) "shortgiving" (sic.) to laugh at someone with a deformity -- even when they stick it into your face.
Maxim.21 Feb 2008 12:49
This is the kind of perpetual character assassination that brings a bad name to the community you are supposed to represent. However, since most people are reasonably-minded, it seems fairly obvious that the only discouraging comments should come from the likes of you.
"an appauling shortgiving"21 Feb 2008 14:06
Maxim. If you don't want to be made fun of, don't beg for it.
Also, the apology that readers would like to see is for your insults to Canada's Estonians. --- Remember?
Anonymous21 Feb 2008 15:06
Maxim is like a big puppy-dog who jumps on us with muddy paws, gnaws good furniture, and soils the carpet. And no matter how many times he is disciplined for this sort of thing, he is always shocked and mystified by the injustice of it all.
Anonymous21 Feb 2008 22:29
you are overlooking the fact that he is a big ego, so big that you could say that he is a nut.
