This is a really, really, really good book (really!) for Canadians (including -hyphen Estonians) with any curiosity about life behind the (former) iron curtain. Although the book speaks of then, it also fills in a lot of background blanks for people wondering about the nows.
I loved the original and I am really pleased with this translation - myts maha Tarmo ees! - Estonian to English translation is heinously difficult (try sometime) and this is really well done.
What is hard to understand is why this didn't get picked up by a commercial publisher - a little more room on the page, a more interesting "package," and maybe a run-through by a top-flight copy editor would all help make this even better (especially considerng that the original is a really gorgeous book).
But, really, buy this book, read it and pass it on.
