Friends in charge? This is going to be hilarious. They managed to manipulate the membership to force out credible and dedicated managers of the executive. Like the Chinese say, “beware what you wish for”.. They wanted it.. now they got it!!

All the “Friends” do is oppose-oppose-oppose. Nothing constructive is offered. This “Appeal for help” is a case in point. As was pointed out to them earlier, if they asked all the signatories to their “petition to save the church” to commit to a monthly donation of a mere $10 the executive would not have needed to proceed with selling the church. But instead they are asking for donations to support their website, not the church! Shocking!
Really? The church council should have done what the friends are doing: saving the church. There was no reason to go to church: the minister could barely speak English, no programs, no willingness to change, top down management, no kindness or caring. Just look at what other churches are doing, why are people willing to step in and volunteer? Maybe because they are friendly, something this church needs to become, especially the minister. And they have a purpose: loving people. Who would want to go to St Peter’s judging by the nasty comments from the congregation- or the Keskus people? You gotta wonder what that’s gonna be like- run when you can!!

I really do not understand all the vicious rhetoric thrown at this group - who are trying to preserve our Estonian heritage, history and building. If the church council really care about their congregation, they would join the Friends to work together to save this heritage building. And they would have reached out to all their members, the local community and former members to develop a plan, instead of complaining about the lack of funds. It’s all about the $$. What about the people?
We want to save the Congregation first - the building second... Getting everyone to donate just reasonably will save both!
Many people left this congregation for various reasons, mainly they found caring congregations, peace and joy. What’s to save in the congregation? A full time minister making close to 100k when you consider room, heat, hydro, car, expenses? Is that what you want to save? Or the people who don’t care about you and whine about lack of donations to keep the place going? So no, save the building! Send the congregation to the Keskus- they donate there anyway!

"Over 2000" do not represent anyone. They have signed as requested by the "friends" - most don't live in Toronto or Ontario and are not aware where Estonia is nor who Luther was.

Once again, for all those who don't understand. People are not donating to the church because they are not getting anything out of it. We need something to be going on there and we need a new minister that will draw people in. At least the Friends have ideas, what is the current, or rather the executive that quit, been doing lately? The money grab is not for the Friends, it is sell, sell, sell to get the funds for the keskus. What is everyone so afraid of? Heavens, what if the Friends could actually turn things around?
Koguduse liige is as diluted as the friends. So sad that a bunch of sanctimonious do-nothings only now come out of the shadows. A bunch of bright ideas too late.

As an observer and former member, it seems that the Friends have presented a plan and new ideas, some of which I don’t always agree with, but never a money grab like various other groups. They are fighting to save the church and obviously need help- so why discredit them? And have the people who are so rude here- have they donated or even attended church more than once, and then just to vote to sell? The church needs more new members who care, and if the Friends could do this, wouldn’t it be a win-win for everyone?
Friends should be focused on getting elected on clear plan/platform.

Well now, don’t count your chickens before they hatch! You also have a long way to go - especially with the Keskus! The church is a historic building. Stop misleading the congregation, the juhatus is incapable of holding a correct vote, or leading the church. They should step down. But wait, they did! Good job!

But the congregation is 12 people that shows up every Sunday. That ain’t gonna change anytime soon, remember all the sermons about religion dying, the state of the world etc etc. so think about the Keskus and imagine what can happen there. Of course, you gotta build it first. So let’s build back better!👷♂️

What the problem was with the Friends of Eesti Maja? If we had listened to them, we would have a rebuilt Eesti Maja - and people would have money to donate to the church! What is this proxy war all about? Not getting it.
I apologize if I state that money talks. Restoring the church to its old grandeur (copper roof, etc.) costs money. I am puzzled (amused??) when those making a lot of noise (those Vaino Einola types) put $100 on the table. And yet he is heading up Majandusklubi. Is this all he could find deep in his pocket?
