What a wonderful, heart-warming story. Thanks for sharing it with us and keep us informed of further developments.

Here's something for your trivia file: your great-great-grandfather, Horma Ott, had a good, strong name -- "ott" is an archaic Estonian word which means "bear".

I also enjoyed reading about this family drama. When the paper version of Eesti Elu arrives, I hope to see some photos.

This is wonderful stuff! The sort of emotions that ought to be experienced more often and expressed here and elsewhere. There is too much poo.pooing of people generally and me specifically, and I hope that we can one day all join hands and be of one faith and hope. If not, is isn't for not want of my trying. Best of wishes to this family. PS. The Võru contingency marching down Narva maante at last Sunday's Laulupidu was indeed a sight to behold!!!
too much poo pooing? Indeed!04 Jul 2007 07:26
Maxim. You recently "poo pood" (to use your term) the restoration of an historic Lutheran Church in Tallinn because it looks too Lutheran.
Now you want us all to be joined in one faith. That sounds ominous -- an idea to be "poo pood".
Yes, Maxim, you have been "poo pood" here; but I've never noticed that it was unjustified.

Sorry Bob-it just goes to show that not everyone here wants to share in the goodwill which you let fire like a cat out of a bag. At least one person here-another of my misplaced critics-seems to put discord ahead of all those values you display. Hope to see more of you writing here in future.
