On the one hand, it crimps Putin's ability to make mischief. On the other hand, it could provoke a desperate Putin to lash out like a cornered rat. There's nothing like manufactured foreign threats to distract the locals from incompetence and corruption at home.
More so, in the absence of American resolve and leadership and President Ebola has two more years to "fundamentally change America".
