As a former president of the Latvian National Federation in Canada very much active during the drive for independence and the immediate years afterwards, I had the privilege of working with Estonian and Lithuanian colleagues and friends who represented their national federations as we worked towards common goals. Since then the connections between our communities have become fewer and further in-between even though we face similar challenges in the Baltic and now serious threats from the empire to the east as well as similar challenges as small communities in Canada who have become minorities among minorities. Our nations have a shared history and cultural points of intersection. I can only echo Maimu Molder's comments which so eloquently captured what was a wonderful evening with Julgi Stalte ... We need to find ways to celebrate and work together while maintaining our own distinct communities. Thank you!
