Why does the National Estonian Foundation of Canada support Golf Tournaments?
The NEFC mandate is to sustain and grow the Estonian Community in Canada. This means the support events in areas beyond the GTA. An event such as this attracts Estonians of all ages, especially the youth to an event beyond the formal traditional cultural type. By sponsoring an event, we are able to explain and promote our organization to a wider audience, gather contact information from the particiapants, use that information to inform them of upcoming Estonian events AND last but not least recieve numerous generous donations from appreciative golfers.
We also award a student scholorship to a youth of Estonian heritage. Past recieipients have not only expressed their appreciation, but also a rekindled interest in the Estonian community and language.
Lets be very clear, NEFC support and sponsorship does not imply a free day of golf and an all expenses paid dinner for people of means!

I'd like to know, for example, how much McCooeye's (or Halpin's) Estonian language skills have improved this past year? Is there proof positive that adequate controls are being kept on just how much individual responsibility and accountability of one's language skills and input into the Estonian community are subject to their receiving glamorous sums of money to support Estonian events such as the old age Finno-ugric game of golf???
...just what is it that you are trying to say, Maxim?
