We have to exert strong pressure on all concerned to ensure, that the memorial is built. The memorial is not only for Balts,it's a memorial to all who perished, worldwide, under Communist Regimes!
Canada is full of refugees who found shelter here to rebuild lives shattered by communists.
No doubt, young Trudeau would like to keep the proposed memorial out of sight. His father had a soft spot for commies. The ghastly red tyrant, Fidel Castro was an honorary pall-bearer at his funeral.
We should all express our disgust by writing to our Member of Parliament on this matter.

I would like to add my support to Peter Van Loan's comment re Trudeau's attempt to minimize the atrocities of communism. My mother has a Mennonite background born in Southern Russia and she lost most of her family members to communism. The place of that memorial is most appropriate.
Here is more information about the proposed design and location.

Bad, bad judgement by Trudeau, there are large groups of voters who are not going to be happy about his position.

I don't buy the architects' argument, it is weak and makes no sense.
I wonder how many members actually saw the press release before it was release.

Since when has the Conservative Party started to defend democracy?
They’ve prorogued Parliament whenever it’s convenient for them, and they’ve challenged the constitutionality of our laws (their challenges dismissed by the Supreme Court), leading many to wonder whether they really believe in the rule of law. They use the rule of law, but do they believe in it?
Rejigging electoral districts so they can win, silencing any opposition that they possibly can to their agenda, underfunding science, the Law Commission of Canada, abolishing the Statistics Canada mandatory Long-Form Census ….
Seriously?

Conservatives may be many things, but they get my vote on this one!
DO NOT back down. This is most appropriate and a visual document of history that must never be forgotten. I maintain JT is a closet communist that could easily make a deal with Putin and form an alliance with him. China, Russia and Canada would then be the richest resources block in the world
That is down right silly, if not political fear mongering, like a Conservative attack ad. Libeals are almost as capitalistic as Conservatives.
