So what is happening with the appeal to the OMB of the Broadview Avenue Planning Study SASP 509 scheduled for April 9?

From the Case Coordinator/Planner of the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) regarding Case #PL160686 - "...the appeal by the Estonian House in Toronto Limited ("Estonian House") as it relates to 954-958 Broadway Avenue and 72 Chester Hill Road is adjourned sine die." Adjournment sine die (from the Latin "without day") means "without assigning a day for a further meeting or hearing" or to adjourn it for an indefinite period.

In light of the fact that this information was submitted for an official plan amendment 2 weeks ago one has to ask why were the attendees of the Estonian Centre Project Information Meeting held last night (Mar. 14) subjected to the same tired old song and dance routine by David Kalm and the representatives of the 4 orgs?

"Seniors' voices matter and they must be part of the conversation ...

"And more than one-quarter of older seniors say that because of their age, younger people make choices for them without asking their preference....

Policy makers have to ensure that older Canadians – not just 65 plus, but those 75 or 85 or older – are consulted just as any other major stakeholder group when discussing public policy. ..."

Ageism is getting old15 Mar 2018 13:23
Hazel McCallion, former mayor of Mississuagua, now Chief Elder Officer at Revera Inc, wrote "Ageism is getting old. Let's an end it", the aforementioned article. Why not write her?

Second class citizens15 Mar 2018 13:46
I don't get it .... the Estonian House was not allowed to build higher than X stories on Broadview, limited to either 4 or 6... but Revera can build 18???

Can councilor Mary Fragedakis please explain how this can happen with a strong residents lobby against tall buildings in the neighborhood? Mary, are Estonians second-class citizens in Toronto? Time to write Mary a letter or two.

Vanasõnad: "õigust pole maailmas" and "raha paneb rattad käima" come to mind.

this is just an application from Revera, it is not yet approved by the city. It may very well fall through and we are back to square one.

Hei rahamees, try not to sound so happy
NDA15 Mar 2018 17:29
paistab 954 Broadview omanikud või Revera ei tea mis Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) tähendab. Miks on Revera plaani avaldatud internetis kui ühiskonnale räägitakse kõik on salaja. Kuidas see juhtus juba kaks nädalad tagasi? Kas see rikub kokkulepe ?
Minu arvamus16 Mar 2018 17:57
The neighbours won't like it - this is a tall building, going right to the laneway - in a NDP hood. What kickback is going back to the city councillor? Any parks need developing:-)

Good luck to Revera! The OMB is not what it used to be. Start writing to the councillor - maybe there's hope for the Esto House yet!
Risky venture17 Mar 2018 11:15
The only thing is, that the highrise condo idea at Broadview was risky from the get-go. The entity managing the condo would prefer getting rid of the pesky Estonian community centre in the back, eventually. Would we have been vigilant enough to withstand being outmaneuvered by those running the condo?

The Estonian Centre Project is the one on Madison and was the host of the earlier meeting. This information is about the project on Broadview, and would logically be shared by the new developers.
