Estonia faces an adversary (I'd like to say enemy) of appalling obduracy. Who else could describe the occupation and its grisly aftermath was "a widening of Russia's borders"?
Estonia's only option at this hour is to wait out the passing of the Putin dispensation with the hope that what follows will be better.

Many of Sweden's Estonian exile community were up in arms and at a loss for words as to how their country could choose to be on such friendly relations with the USSR. Thanks largely to the different political angle waged towards Russia at the time, it was possible for friendlier relations to be had between their countries. Finland suffered from her geographical proximity to the USSR, and this reflected in her need for friendly relations with the East, but Sweden's friendly aproach enabled her to be on very considerable use to captive nations, including the Baltic States. There was always much talk of the need to wage political war against Russia for occupying the Baltics, but not nearly enough has been revealed about how useful friendly contacts on a state level between Sweden and the USSR provided a much-neede breathing space for the captive Baltic nations.
I wish that you could reveal a detail or two about Sweden's usefulness to the captive nations.
You insinuate possession of insider information and -- then -- nothing!

..."not nearly enough has been revealed about how useful friendly contacts on a state level between Sweden and the USSR provided a much-neede breathing space for the captive Baltic nations."
Is that so? Well then, you will just have to tell us about it Maxim! And, while your at it, tell us where you got all the behind the scenes info.
Until you come accross with something solid, I'm going to continue to think that your just an empty windbag.

Sweden is unconnected to matters in this article. Why mention it?
The author of the article authored it in Sweden --- thats what!!!!!
If you're only beginning to think that way, then I'm way ahead of you. I wish you'd be the first to come up with as sensible comment as I always seem to be, and then you take the initiative coming in second -best as it were, but not with anything remotely constructive, but a destructive as possible. I think it would be very foolish to reveal all my sources, since the same methods can very well be used again in the future should it be that Estonia finds herself in a hot spot. So in Estonia's best interests, mum's the word.
If what you state is true, then your face should appear on Estonian currency and postage stamps. Your image should even stand in bronze on Tallinn's Raekojaplats.
...and if it's not true. What then?
Easy-look up an acquaintance in the Swedish-Estonian community and get the lowdown on what happened in "neutral" Sweden, and why it got up the noses of so many of the local Estonian folk. The truth will hit you in the face for sure if you don't take my word for it, whch obviously you don't.
The sentiments and attitudes of Estonians in Sweden is not in question here.
In question, is your statement that, "...not nearly enough has been revealed about how useful friendly contacts on a state level between Sweden and the USSR provided a much-neede breathing space for the captive Baltic nations" and how you could have learned of it.
In other words, (1) What contacts? (2) How were they useful? (3) How did you find out about it?
When you come here to tell us that have secret information (and nothing more), you sound like an empty braggart and liar.

Maxim himself admits to being a liar. On March 26 he wrote " I'm not in the business on proving to be right inasmuch as offering an opinion." i.e. Maxim will offer an opinion that he knows to be untrue. What a low life. No wonder he has no friends.
Can you show me where I've indicated I've written something that I knowingly understand to be untrue? I think you realize that is not the case, so I will refrain from getting into the kind of nastiness and derogatory comments that you seem to enjoy-just like a pig sloshing in mud! Pity really.
Here is my answer to you Maxim . I'm not in the business on proving to be right inasmuch as offering an opinion. Good luck.
