"...lacks the clout to be a major player..."
"...savvy youth..."
"...the orientation to practicality of..."
"...a progressively competitive..."
"Estonia’s critical mass is in its national brainpower..."

While I agree with the general point of the article, I must say that the use of slang and "buzzwords" in this context is undignified and, therefore, inappropriate.

Perhaps you could offer appropriate wording for the article, or better yet, write it yourself.

Appropriate wording would be simplicity itself.

I agree. Slang is undignified and "buzzwords" are useful when you have nothing to say.
This article is a good one in substance. It only lacks proper presentation to do it justice.

I agree with this comment. Criticizing wording is superficial and a waste of time. However, I don't agree that there's anything of substance here. Who is the target audience here? What's the point? Canada ultimately has brighter kids according to the same rankings.

This further proves that EKN has no purpose any more nor is it capable of voicing our real concerns to the Canadian public nor the government nor the media.

Their only significant action in the past 12-48 months has been, accodring to Peter Van Loan, to ask the Canadian government not to support Estonia during the Bronze Soldier crisis.

Can to please direct us to some more information about this matter?
If what you say is true, it calls for an explanation. At face value, it's simply an outrage and, for that, someone should be called to account.

10th paragraph from the bottom of the article.

This is both sad and infuriating.
On the other hand, the readers' comments at the end of the article are a reassurance that the average Canadian-Estonian has his/her head screwed on right.
By contrast, our "aristocracy" again appears to be arrogant and "out of touch". I hope that they dry up before they drive even more Estonians away from our community's formal organizations.
