Why have you changed your story, Maxim?

A few months ago, you told us that the deportations were lawful and, in addition, that communism's only crime, ever, occurred in 1937 when the Party turned against its own members?

He hasn't changed his story. He's simply garbled it.

Whatever my response, it has never satisfied my critics. I now understand that everyone agrees with me, but they want to know what gives me the right to change my mind? Strange-I thought the global intellectual community was a place where freedom abounds. That is not the case, since my critics wish to put me "behind bars" for whatever I would or even wouldn't say. I am disappointed that my critics need to write comments which are automatically deleted from this site. However, as I have always said, I don't see where I have ever broken with intellectual etiquette here or elsewhere, nor do I have any wish to break with these rules. If I did, I would reasonably accept the decision to have my comments deleted in the way my critics comments seem to find their way into cyberspace's dustbin of history.

With comments like that, there can be no doubt that this unfortunate is, both, of limited intelligence and, mentally troubled.

Has it ever occurred to you that many of your comments are outlandish, provocative and, sometimes, painfully wounding?
One of many examples, is your assertion that the deportation of Estonians to Siberia was legal and justified.

All I can say in response is that I have never revelled in language that has been offensive to others. As I said, it is my critics who have responded in language that has proven to be unprintable, yet in spite of this, you still seem to think my comments were even worse. All I can say is that your comment does not hit the mark of accuracy very well. Finally, it is a shame that for some people here the name of Maxim conjures up impressions of someone called EK, whoever he is. I imagine he's glad to be where he is, and not having to deal with unpleasant people like his critics here.

Get a life, Maxim, and for your own sake, stop harassing us with provocations ranging from stupid to insane.

I support you comment entirely! It's such a shame that there are people who just want to bark up a fallen tree, and think that building a straw man, then cutting him down to size is a worthwhile sentiment that deserves fuelling with as much venom as possible. As I said, I have not denied the existence of deportations, but we never really fathomed the depth of a number of covert relationships that President Pats and his Russian counterparts worked so hard to achieve, supposedly for the benefit of the Estonian Republic. On the one hand, Estonians abroad have always hailed the former President's brilliance in handing over the republic to the Soviets without bloodshed;on the other hand Estonians abroad have always maintained that Estonian's who forcibly remained at home in Estonia are nothing more than brainwashed left wing ideologues. This unanswered inconsistency needs to be sorted out once and for all.

I am happy to read this article. When reading a recent article on a Latvian Deportation memorial, I read the comments, and one of the commenters "Vladimir from Russia" stated that Estonians, Latvians, Lithuania's deserved to be sent to Siberia, for being Natzi and HItler supporters. It made me sick to my stomach, and he kept going on like Maxim does here.

Russia needs to teach their people some basic laws regarding humanity.
