as it will make far more difficult to insist that it was genocide

Ei, see mind ei huvita mis Maxim de la Trine selle kohta ütleks.
Jälk inimene ammu seletas meile et niisugused kuriteod olid õiglased, kui nad ei olnud just komunistide vastu suunatud.

If indeed it was genocide, the international community would have agreed and accepted that claim 50 years ago. Should it have been genocide, it is now much more difficult to correct history, since the globally recognized political network has fixed its parameters in a way that treat the crime of genocide to be limited to American Indians and European Jewry. The rest of the world should keep its nose out of international affairs-at least that's the message presented to peoples around the world.
Why have you changed your story, Maxim?
A few months ago, you told us that the deportations were lawful and, in addition, that communism's only crime, ever, occurred in 1937 when the Party turned against its own members?

He hasn't changed his story. He's simply garbled it.
What made the imprisonments of 1937 illegal, when the rest of them throughout Soviet history were, in your confused mind, perfectly legal.
Whatever my response, it has never satisfied my critics. I now understand that everyone agrees with me, but they want to know what gives me the right to change my mind? Strange-I thought the global intellectual community was a place where freedom abounds. That is not the case, since my critics wish to put me "behind bars" for whatever I would or even wouldn't say. I am disappointed that my critics need to write comments which are automatically deleted from this site. However, as I have always said, I don't see where I have ever broken with intellectual etiquette here or elsewhere, nor do I have any wish to break with these rules. If I did, I would reasonably accept the decision to have my comments deleted in the way my critics comments seem to find their way into cyberspace's dustbin of history.
"I now understand that everyone agrees with me..."
"I don't see where I have ever broken with intellectual etiquette..."
"I have [no] wish to break with these rules."
With comments like that, there can be no doubt that this unfortunate is, both, of limited intelligence and, mentally troubled.

Has it ever occurred to you that many of your comments are outlandish, provocative and, sometimes, painfully wounding?
One of many examples, is your assertion that the deportation of Estonians to Siberia was legal and justified.

All I can say in response is that I have never revelled in language that has been offensive to others. As I said, it is my critics who have responded in language that has proven to be unprintable, yet in spite of this, you still seem to think my comments were even worse. All I can say is that your comment does not hit the mark of accuracy very well. Finally, it is a shame that for some people here the name of Maxim conjures up impressions of someone called EK, whoever he is. I imagine he's glad to be where he is, and not having to deal with unpleasant people like his critics here.
Get a life, Maxim, and for your own sake, stop harassing us with provocations ranging from stupid to insane.
There's nothing in it for you to come here looking for abuse. Don't grovel and beg for it.

you are a total idiot ... you have never made one salient post in all of your frothy ravings !
Maxim looks kinda cute when he's angry.
I wonder if it isn't the right time to cut the crap about "nobody here but me, innocent Maxim, trying to make intellectual conversation, upset that some take it the wrong way, thinking that I only want to p-ss in their face. Can't understand why".
Erik! Everybody in Toronto between the age of 40 and 70 remembers you for what you are.
We grieve for you.

The whole lot of you prove that this web page truly is a dung heap masquerading as a newspaper. It's become hang-out for community lunatics and extremists. Why don't you start a yahoo group and take your wacko, hate filled views there. That way you can stomp on community members without ruining too many more lives. Oh - yeah, I guess that's what the slacker day jobs and rumour infested culture at Eesti Maja is for.
I support you comment entirely! It's such a shame that there are people who just want to bark up a fallen tree, and think that building a straw man, then cutting him down to size is a worthwhile sentiment that deserves fuelling with as much venom as possible. As I said, I have not denied the existence of deportations, but we never really fathomed the depth of a number of covert relationships that President Pats and his Russian counterparts worked so hard to achieve, supposedly for the benefit of the Estonian Republic. On the one hand, Estonians abroad have always hailed the former President's brilliance in handing over the republic to the Soviets without bloodshed;on the other hand Estonians abroad have always maintained that Estonian's who forcibly remained at home in Estonia are nothing more than brainwashed left wing ideologues. This unanswered inconsistency needs to be sorted out once and for all.
There is no "inconsistency that needs to be sorted out once and for all."
Even if there were you, Erik, aren't going to do it; just like you aren't to, as you say, "bark up a fallen tree". But bark, you no doubt will.

I am happy to read this article. When reading a recent article on a Latvian Deportation memorial, I read the comments, and one of the commenters "Vladimir from Russia" stated that Estonians, Latvians, Lithuania's deserved to be sent to Siberia, for being Natzi and HItler supporters. It made me sick to my stomach, and he kept going on like Maxim does here.
Russia needs to teach their people some basic laws regarding humanity.

Some of us remember you as a child in eesti kool. Even then you were prone crazy outbursts. Sorry to see you never grew out of that phase. Your nicknames, Maximahv and Maxim de la Trine, are unfortunately well earned.
Why can't you just leave us alone? Harassing really doesn't do you any good.

Mingit okupatsiooni polnud! President Päts kutsus tagasi Uluotsa valitsuse ning tegi uue valitsuse moodustamise ülesandeks Johannes Vares Barbarusele...
Sure smells like it!
If you don't wish to deal with unpleasant people, then don't.
It's that simple, simpleton.
