0Yes it supports, celebrates, and preserves the Estonian community in Canada, but we cannot grow and thrive in isolation. Estonians around the world need to be united and connected in every way possible. The NEFC should support our efforts to maintain those ties, especially when it comes to Estonian culture, because through that we preserve our language and identity as well.

0"we cannot grow and thrive in isolation." Yet that is exactly what Estonians are doing in Udora, Ont. isolating ourselves from our Canadian neighbours. Obviously the community would thrive if Estonians and Canadians were to work together. But apparently that makes Estonians uncomfortable, fearing Canadians as if they are thieves. Very sad outcome for a once vibrant community.

The US could set up it's own foundation if US Esto's are looking for funding. There's also the Rahvuskaaslaste program.

0To my knowledge, the NEFC is not an advertising agency, but is clearly mandated to fund only Estonian activities and events in Canada. The NEFC 'Sündmuste Ringkiri' presents a very ambiguous message. Events listing is a job for EestiElu and similar media. CRA?
