Yet, she (along with Putin, Amnesty International and others) misses the main point: the Estonian language should be protected because it has intrinsic value to Estonians and they should have the right to%@!#$&' in their small corner of the world, in spite of the inconvenience that this might impose upon the Russian minority.
As a matter of fact, the Russian minority in Estonia is bearing the burden of integration rather nobly. Very few Russians have departed.
Putin is dissatisfied. He favours bilingualism for Estonians, but not for Russians.
Amnesty International is dissatisfied. It fancies itself as the final arbiter of human rights. The survival of a culture isn't in their mandate.
