During the time that this money laundering on a grand scale was happening it should be remembered that Andrus Ansip was the Prime Minister of Estonia and the Reform Party formed the government. As the columnist Ahto Lobjakas has pointed out, most recently in the weekly radio program 'Olukorrast Riigis' (July 8, 2018), this brings up two distinct possibilities. One - the government and Ansip knew about the movement of these vast sums of money and was complicit and corrupt, or two - the government and Ansip knew nothing and was incompetent thereby damaging Estonia's reputation and credibility in Europe.
