Well said Tauno and thanks
You know what you are talking about! The border between free and suppressed speech is impossible to draw accurately. Yes we all know who nasty ones are.
It's better to suppress all passion and emotion at the risk of being rude. Even when the stakes are high.
Choose the passive-aggressive path. Be nasty behind peoples' backs like a true Toronto Eesti kohvitädi.

Wow. No comments Tauno nothing to ad...
Great article,Tauno, and you make a reasonable case for allowing anonymous comments. Nevertheless, generally I avoid reading them. In my opinion, if anyone feels strongly enough about an issue to want to comment, then they should have the courage to sign their name. Otherwise, why waste my time.
Bravo Tauno!
Succinct and to the point, reasonable, very well argued. This anonymous sniping has been a concern ever since eesti.ca was launched. Vaado Sarapuu also was able to figure out who the anonymous spreaders of malice and spite were.
Our community is already fragmented due to some poor decisions by a few, not those of the majority. One truly does wish that the anonymous commentators grow up, not hide behind what they think is a shield. The sad reality is that they think they are empowered by that shield, when in fact their identities are known.
Olgem inimesed, ehitame ülesse, ärme lõhkugem seda, mida meie isad, emad, vanavanemad ehitasid.

Some years ago, an unfortunate known as Maxim de la Trine, used anonymity to pester and goad the rest of us.
Clearly, he was of limited intelligence and mentally troubled. He worked tirelessly! Doing no good for himself or the readership, when he was in desperate need of therapy.

I am glad you wrote this Tauno. Now the community knows how much you battle behind the scenes against dishonest voices.
Dishonest in who’s opinion? That’s the problem. Who gets to comment now is entirely up to the editor. If he doesn’t like what someone has to say, “those comments are never seen by readers”. Now I know what you’re going say, “these comments in question that don’t see the light of day are defaming”. Again..in whose opinion? the editor? This consolidation of power now gives the editor extraordinary influence and control. It is dangerous and completely contradictory to a free press and open forum that is supposedly valued by this publication. I have a better idea, how about let the readers judge for themselves what is worth reading. Quit insulting their intelligence by playing big brother and determining what is good or not good for them.
Every online forum I've posted on has moderators. If not for the work they do, the forums would have so much rudeness, personal attacks etc. that they'd be borderline unreadable. My impression is that Tauno only removes the most obnoxious/rude personal attacks, the most foul language etc., he's certainly not "censoring" people's opinions on various issues, politics or whatever else.
Good article Tauno, I've always thought anonymity is good here for a number of reasons and you've stated the main ones. Thank you for your service. :)

Ok so you essentially restrict comments you deem inappropriate. I think that is called censorship. Genius.
