A few more additions to the Canadian National Exhibition Air Show
18 Aug 2011 Adu Raudkivi
As the date of the Canadian (National Exhibition) International Air Show creeps closer, a few more additions come on board. The "Heavy Metal Jet Team" have added an extra L-39 (Czech made jet trainer) to the four already on tap. There will also be a MIG-17 (USSR jet fighter that fought the Canadians in Korea).

The final addition will be a CP-140 Aurora (a Canadian four turbo-prop engined radar patrol aircraft). The signifigance of this aircraft was that it was the kind crewed by Colonel Margus Aruja who was a navigator before he became squadron commander and then base commander of Shearwater Air Base in Nova Scotia. After that Col. Aruja spent a year in the recently independant Estonia.

"I appreciate (the then Chief of Staff) General De Chastelaine allowing me to go to Estonia and help set the up the Air Force there," said Col. Aruja.

Korean Veterans, East Europeans (including Estonians) will be asked to check their ground to air missiles at the gate so that they don't give the MIG-17 a proper welcome.

The Air Show takes place CNE waterfront on Saturday, September 3; Sunday September 4; and Monday, September 5, 2011 (Labour Day weekend) and will run from aproximately 12:30p.m. and 4:30p.m. daily.
