Wednesday, May 31st, 2023 was a historic date in the timeline of St. Peter’s church. As every reader is aware, there have been varying opinions regarding how the congregation should be moving ahead. To sell the building, or not to sell. Last evening’s vote to sell the church to a developer did not pass with the required amount of votes. As a result, the Executive stepped down and a new slate of individuals was elected. The new Executive consists of Väino Einola, Anne-Liis Keelman, Tiiu Roiser, Linda Laikvee,Toomas Trei and Erik Kalm.

It is with utmost respect and gratitude that we thank the outgoing Executive for their many years of hard work and dedication. We invite them to work together with the new Executive in what we will strive to be a bright future for our congregation. We invite all congregation and community members to share their ideas and suggestions in moving forward.

There is much work to be done during the transition period from one Executive to another. One of our immediate plans is to withdraw the columbarium closure application. We will also be creating a new church website where information and announcements will be easily available to you all. The Facebook Page will continue as it is.

We also foresee updating our membership list to ensure that everyone receives notices of church activities and new website links; and holding a town hall meeting so that all community ideas can be expressed and considered.

From the attendance at the meeting and letters recently received, we can see that people hold dear our congregation and value the building that our forefathers built. There has been a phenomenal out pouring of interest. Often individuals are not inclined to step forward to work for the betterment of our community. We invite you to please do so. Every one of us has been blessed with God-given talents, the Bible clearly spells it out in Romans 12:6 (NIV): “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.” And 1 Peter 4:10 “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others.” What talents and interests do you have to share? Please come and join us in serving God and our community.

More information will be coming soon.
