According to the Estonian Forensic Science Institute, 192 forged euro banknotes were discovered in Estonia in 2013 versus 202 forged notes in 2012, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.
The biggest amount of forged notes were 50, 100 and 20 euro notes of which 52, 55 and 32 respectively were ascertained.
According to the European Central Bank, in the second half of the last year the amount of euro banknotes withdrawn from circulation grew but is very small. In the second half of 2013, 353,000 forged euro banknotes were withdrawn from circulation in the EU, which was by 11.4% more than in the first half of the year.
More than 15 billion euro banknotes are in circulation.
