Ilutuli, the Tartu College poetry performance group, is presenting an evening with the works of poets Harri Asi and Hannes Oja on a backdrop of paintings by the late Toronto architect and multi-faceted artist Uno Prii. The three men are all of a generation, those forced to leave Estonia in the prime of their youth, face battle against the totalitarian enemy, and begin new careers, learn new languages far from the fatherland.

Asi has recently published a collection of English language poetry to complement earlier Estonian collections; selections will be presented in both languages. Oja is well known as a journalist and art, literature critic, his poetry confirms love of nature and homeland expressed both in conventional rhyme and free verse. A considerable number of Uno Prii's architectural creations have recently been placed on the Toronto Heritage Building list, quite a few among them in the immediate vicinity of Tartu College.

The programme of art and poetry will be presented on Friday, October 22nd in the Tartu College Hall at 7 PM. Further information available at 416 488-3637.
