24 Jan 2014 Estonian World Council
(BAFL January 23, 2014) - The Black Ribbon Day resolution (H. Res. 302), introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Congressman John Shimkus has gained traction and now has at least 38 cosponsors.
The Black Ribbon Day commemorates the anniversary of the infamous Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, a sinister partnership treaty between Hitler's Nazi Germany and Stalin's Soviet Union that enslaved and murdered millions of people in Central and Eastern Europe.
The list of cosponsors signing up includes:
Rep Pallone, Frank, Jr. [NJ-6]; Rep. King, Peter T. [NY-2]; Rep. Cohen, Steve [TN-9]; Rep. Roybal-Allard, Lucille [CA-40]; Rep. Davis, Susan A. [CA-53]; Rep. Bass, Karen [CA-37]; Rep. Napolitano, Grace F. [CA-32]; Rep. Harris, Andy [MD-1]; Rep. Upton, Fred [MI-6]; Rep. Gutierrez, Luis V. [IL-4]; Rep. Pitts, Joseph R. [PA-16]; Rep. Price, David E. [NC-4]; Rep. Roskam, Peter J. [IL-6]; Rep. Camp, Dave [MI-4]; Rep. Lipinski, Daniel [IL-3]; Rep. Grimm, Michael G. [NY-11]; Rep. Davis, Rodney [IL-13]; Rep. Wilson, Joe [SC-2]; Rep. Diaz-Balart, Mario [FL-25]; Rep. Sanchez, Loretta [CA-46]; Rep. Van Hollen, Chris [MD-8]; Rep. Doggett, Lloyd [TX-35]; Rep. Rohrabacher, Dana [CA-48]; Rep. Miller, Candice S. [MI-10]; Rep. Walberg, Tim [MI-7]; Rep. Goodlatte, Bob [VA-6]; Rep. Bera, Ami [CA-7]
Remembering these events is becoming ever more important. Decades have passed since the destruction of Nazi Germany and the fall of the Berlin wall. Generations of people know little of the magnitude of these events. Black Ribbon Day will serve as a reminder of the evils of these dictatorships.
