A meeting to discuss the body parts harvesting of Falun Gong members in China was held on May 18 at the University of Toronto Medical School.
Considering the extent of the crime, there has been relatively little attention given to what was equated to the atrocities of Nazi Germany. Three medical persons were on the panel addressing the bloody harvest: medical student Mr. Erting Zhang who gave a recap of the Falun Gong, founding member of Doctors Against Organ Harvesting German doctor Dr. Torsten Trey, and Dr. Gerry Koffman, a GP. The moderator was the Honourable David Kilgour, former MP and Secretary of State for Asia Pacific.
What started as harvesting body parts from those condemned to die has expanded to harvesting from the Falun Gong and selling them to foreigners.
The Falun Gong is a spiritual society founded in 1992. They became so popular that they started to eclipse the Chinese Communist Party and the later banned the former in 1999. Since then the Falun Gong have suffered persecution, resulting in the deaths of some 3,000 members and the incarceration of over 100,000.
A former prisoner in one of the concentration camps, Ms. Li Tai spoke through a translator how other prisoners would be taken away and never return. Her straightforwardness was chilling.
Another doctor was a lady from Romania, Dr. Sturza, who added her voice to the protest.
"We are trying to reach doctors and the Olympic officials to boycott their counterparts in China until the crimes are stopped and democracy is established," said Ms. Danielle Zhu, Senior Producer at New Tang Dynasty Television, Toronto.
