Calling all “Seedrioruans”

This summer marks the 50th year that the Estonian camp Seedrioru has operated for children from London, Kitchener, St. Catharines, Hamilton as well as the United States.

A traditional annual highlight event has been the summer picnic now known as “Suvehari“. This year planning is already well under way to make this event special and memorable in celebration of the half century jubilee.

The Seedrioru committee hopes that everyone involved in the summer camp over the decades will come to this year’s “Suvehari” which will take place June 25 and 26, 2005 at the camp. For further information, please visit the Seedrioru website at: www.seedrioru.com

Those of us reading this paper and who regularly attend “Suvehari” have sometimes wondered what became of all those others who attended camp with us and who seem to simply have dropped out of sight for various reasons.

It would be great if we could somehow reach these people, remind them of the great times we had at camp and hopefully have some of them and their families come to “Suvehari” and reconnect to their Estonian roots for a day.

The camp is situated close to spectacular Elora Gorge, picturesque Mennonite country is close, there is ample accommodation to be had close by if you don’t feel like roughing it in a tent. You need not feel embarrassed if your language skills are rusty and the program promises to be sufficiently varied to be of interest to all age groups and linguistic abilities.

If you know a former “Seedrioruan” who might be interested, please pass this message on to them and direct them to the web site.

See you there!
