"Gustloff" is a documentary about the largest maritime disaster in history. It happened during the waning days of WW II when some 10,000 persons, 9,000 of them civilians, most of them children, perished when the ship was torpedoed by a Soviet submarine while the vessel was transporting refugees and wounded who were escaping from the Soviets.
