The Edmonton Police have completed a yearlong investigation against the Chinese Consulate in Calgary and can lay hate crime charges against them. The consulate has been spreading hate against the Falun Gong, a Chinese originated spiritual group, says writer Caylan Ford of The Epoch Times in a current issue.

A diplomatic element cannot disseminate hate literature outside their premises without facing hate crime charges. What they do within their premises is within their rights as a diplomatic establishment.

A year ago the members of the Chinese Consulate in Calgary brought their literature to Edmonton, opening them to charges.

Just weeks after the last of a series of defectors had escaped from China to Australia, this is a further slap against the Chinese communist government.

Falun Gong is a non-religious, yet spiritual group that has been in existence in China for the past twelve years. Since 1999, however, they have been banned and persecuted in China. The reason given for this treatment has been attributed to their rapid growth, exceeding that of the Chinese Communist Party. They now have a loose membership of between 70 and 100 million in 60 countries.

Their theory involves meditation and adherence to a moral code based on truthfulness, compassion and tolerance along with an exercise regimen similar to Tai Chi. It is akin to Buddhism, without the structure of an organized religion.

The Red Chinese have murdered approximately 2,500 Falun Gong members and arrested up to 100,000 more.

No country, other than Red China, has seen the Falun Gong as a sect - similar to Scientology or the Moonies. The Red Chinese are also accusing the Falun Gong as child killers, again a charge echoed by them alone.

The Falun Gong have been invited to Estonia by the government, to set up their belief practise.

The Alberta Department of Justice will proceed with the case only if they have a likelihood of conviction.

Thanks for an interesting story. From what you've told us, the Falun Gong are innocuous and, perhaps, practicing something worthwhile. I wonder why, however, the Estonian Government would invite them to Estonia, as you say, "to set up their belief practise". This is a curious matter, indeed, and I wonder what the Government wishes to achieve with this.
