The final act of the musical showcase “Just a Night Out” January 14th at Alice Fazooli’s! is D.A.T.E. We asked Robert Vessmann for background on this band.
The current line up has been playing, writing and recording together for the better part of thirteen years. Each member of this band has been involved in the music industry in some form or another for most of their lives. Keyboard player Martin Deemar successfully toured across Canada and back in the late 70's and early 80's. Alex Brown, who plays guitar, had a flourishing carrier in the 80's with a selection of Queen St. bands, playing many of the more popular venues and stages in and around Toronto. Playing bass guitar as well as a few other instruments has been a passion for Don Paterson, giving him the chance to perform with many local Toronto bands and musicians . Drummer Robert Vessmann has had the opportunities of performing with local bands over the past many years, here in Canada as well as down in the U.S.
Their home base is Thirsty Ear Studios (www.thirstyearstudios.com) in Richmond Hill where all of the band members help operate and record/produce/engineer local "indie artists".
Some of the latest recording sessions have included Martin Ahermaa and Roosie & Tiina, the first two acts on the “Just a Night Out” bill. D.A.T.E. has recorded one album and are currently working on the follow up CD, of all original material.
D.A.T.E. will take the stage at 11 PM. Alice Fazooli’s! is located at 294 Adelaide Street West in the heart of Toronto.
