Tänavu linastunud Jaak Kilmi „Disko ja tuumasõda“ püstitas uue rekordi. Laupäevasele, 27. novembri kella üheksasele seansile tuli ligi 250 filmihuvilist ja filmi linastamine lõppes suure aplausiga.
Filmi tutvustas eelnevalt Ottawas EL filmifestivali üks sponsoritest „Ottawa Ekspress’“i 18. novembri number filmikriitiku T.S. Warren’i artikliga „Retro-Euro“. Kohe artikli alguses tuuakse positiivne hinnang filmi „Disco ja tuumasõda“ kohta: „Who shot J.R.? In the 1980s this pop-culture teaser for millions of fans of the TV series Dallas was also gripping the tiny Soviet satellite country of Estonia. At least those lucky enough to get Finnish television signals. Hip, charming and often hilarious, Disco and Atomic War recounts coming of age during the Cold War as Moscow and Hollywood battled for hearts and minds. Combining newsreel footage and delightfully reconstructed reality, this unusual documentary is one of 26 new films being presented at the 25th European Union Film Festival, Nov. 18 to Dec. 2.“
Eelnevalt esines „Disko ja tuumasõda“ väga edukalt tänavusel RIDM Montreal International Documentary Festival’il 18.novembril ja teenis eritunnustuse. Special Mention for crossing and widening the borders between reality and fiction, for its originality. Its corrosive humor, for its individualistic and eccentric telling of a relatively straightforward fact. A razor sharp feat of research coming together with personal filmmaking of the most inspired kind.“
Palju tänu Kanada Filmiinstituudile, Euroopa Liidu Delegatsioonile Kanadas, Library and Archives Canada’le, Eesti Suursaatkonnale Ottawas ja ning paljudele sponsoritele toetuse eest, andes võimaluse järjekordselt edukalt tutvustada Eesti filmikunsti Kanada pealinnas.
