This fall the Society of Estonian Artists in Toronto (EKKT) again offers both a virtual and on-site gallery experience for their 66th annual exhibition. The reception for the opening took place on Thursday night at Todmorden Mills, featuring guest speaker professor Andres Kasekamp from the University of Toronto and guest pianist Erik Kreem.

New artists at the show include EKKT 2021 scholarship recipient Sofia Musta, EKKT Kalevipoeg Art Contest winner Sylvi Oja, photoartist, dancer and author Karin Vagiste, and photoartist and film director Montgomery Grünthal Langford.

In addition to Estonian artists in Toronto, the exhibition also features Haudenosaunee Six Nations artist, author and illustrator Lorrie Gallant. Another guest artist is Latvian printmaker and instructor from the Yukon School of Visual Arts, John (Janis) Steins, Latvian painter and previous President and Board Member of the LATVIS Society of Artists Valda (Skrins) Oestreicher and Toronto printmaker and past Artist in Residence of The Women’s Art Association of Canada Susan Farquhar.

The EKKT art show is taking place at the Todmorden Mills Heritage Site Papermill Art Gallery, 67 Pottery Road, Toronto, Ontario running from Wednesday October 6th-17th, 2021.

It can also be seen virtually from October 1st-November 1st, 2021 at https://www.estonianartiststor....

In addition to the art exhibition, an additional one-night pop-up photo exhibit was set up adjacent to the Todmorden Mills by photographer Kerly Ilves. The exhibit was titled “Let my soul be | Jäta mu hing rahule”. It consisted of 11 framed colour photographs, which portrayed life in Toronto within a 14 day time frame. Each photo portrayed the struggles of the present.
