Short Film Screening Date Confirmed: October 12, 2018 This year, in honour of Estonia's 100th birthday, we'll be offering a complementary glass of sparking wine and making a toast to all of you who continue to provide both amateur and professional short films about Estonia and Estonians.
Without you, there wouldn't be an EstDocs Short Film Competition!
You can find out more about the competition by clicking
here. We'll show up to 15 short films and be offering these three awards:
• an Amateur film award, to be presented by the Estonian Studies Centre
• a Professional film award, and
• an Audience award.
Even if you're "just" an amateur, you have two prizes to shoot for, so why not pick up your phone or your camera (or both!). And while the films absolutely must be no more than 7 minutes, they can be a lot shorter, too. We've received excellent 2- and 3-minute films that audiences loved. You can also submit more than one film, of course.
(P.S. You don't have to be Estonian to submit a film. Refer to the
guidelines for more information.)
Why not make a short film about the fun you're having at this year's Suvihari? This year's 2018 Seedrioru will feature lots of music and dancing. Come for the whole weekend or just part of it.
And while you're there, make a short film (or have your kids film one) and send it to EstDocs!

https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/se...This year, EstDocs will offer films from Latvia and Lithuania, too. And we'll also be featuring vintage films from the past and will host both afternoon and evening screenings at HotDocs, stay tuned for more information on this.
We are pleased to let you know that Jón Baldvin Hannibalsson, the man who was Iceland's Foreign Minister in 1991, will again be joining us this year.
We'll update you with more information once some of the EstDocs schedule is settled.
Reminder: This year's EstDocs Festival is October 19 - 23
