Estonia is prepared to send rescue equipment to the government of the Russian Federation to assist in fighting widespread forest fires.

Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs Urmas Paet says that tens of people have been killed and hundred left homeless by the most severe forest fires seen in decades. “We sympathize with all of the victims of the fires and their families. We are prepared to help Russia in extinguishing the fires,“ said Paet. “Estonian government agencies are ready to work together with Russian authorities in assessing the precise needs for extinguishing the wildfires,“ he added.

Estonian Ministry of the Interior Under Secretary Erkki Koort says Estonia is prepared to provide assistance. “Although there is no specific rescue treaty in place between Estonian and Russia, this cannot be a reason for failing to lend a helping hand,” he said.

The President of the Russian Federation has declared a state of emergency in seven regions due to the wildfires, and established restrictions on travel and economic activity. A state of emergency has been declared in Mari El Republic and Mordovia as well as in the oblasts of Vladimir, Voronezh, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and Ryazan.

According to the Russian Federation’s Emergencies Ministry, about 7,000 wildfires range over more than 500,000 hectares. The situation is the most serious in the Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow oblasts.

One’s name appears in blue when you put your e-mail address in the appropriate Comment header. As for bold and italics in the text of a comment, the message field accepts limited HTML tags… e-mail me and I will explain to you in detail how to use them. Since I really do use my real e-mail address, just click my name (in blue above) and you’ll be able to send me a e-mail message.

To: Maxim

You have no right to expect privacy in an open forum. And since you (unlike me) use a pseudonym, there are no privacy issues.

In addition, you wrote to deny that you were Maxim, stating that you once used his name: [i]“What an insight-I thought I'd write under the name of Maxim for once, and now I see that everything the original Maxim has said is absolutely true. You people hate with a vengeance!”[i]

Thus, if check and find out that your IP address in the above post is the same one Maxim almost always uses (i.e. that you probably lied about not being Maxim). I incur no liability letting our readers know. But, by all means, contact your lawyer.

It is you that lurks and hides behind anonymity, not I. And I shall review what you have written about me. Who knows? There may be grounds for a suit against you.

Thanks for giving me the idea.

Toomas, when you report on "Maxim's" IP (I suppose the guy, if it really is a guy, could take a laptop to a local neti kohvik... so this may not prove anything) could you please also explain how you get your name in Blue and BOLD text within your posts? I think thats really neat
