US based, Estonian born bassoon virtuoso Martin Kuuskmann is coming to Australia to give a series of masterclasses this October.
Martin has an impressive list of recordings including the Grammy Nomination, Best Contemporary Composition Bassoon Concerto by David Chesky with the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra conducted by Rossen Gergov.
His Nonstop ground-breaking solo album includes the world premiere recording of a Bassoon Sonata by Daniel Schnyder, Arvo Pärt’s luminary work, Spiegel im Spiegel, as well as an unedited live version of the Sequenza XII by Luciano Berio. Constantly pushing the boundaries for new artistic and technical possibilities, Kuuskmann has premiered over eight bassoon concertos, all written and dedicated to him.
Martin has recently been invited to teach at the Manhattan School of Music in addition to his teaching studio in Seattle. The Australian tour classes will be open to ADRS members and it will be a one off opportunity to meet and learn from a quite unique and breathtaking player. Check him out on You Tube – his accuracy and technical ability are amazing!
The tour starts in Perth on October 19 and finishes in Hobart (yes – we finally make it to Hobart!) on the 24th, via Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
