All candidates welcome
The Estonian Central Council in Canada (ECCC), founded in 1951, is a 25-member nationally elected organisation representing Canadian Estonians, supporting the rights of the Estonian Republic and its people, as well as supporting democracy and freedom in Estonia.
With elections taking place every four years, the ECCC Elections Committee has been authorized to hold ECCC general elections this fall.
The first step is the nomination of candidates. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, of Estonian heritage and live in Canada. Candidate nomination forms are available in this newspaper in the Estonian section, as well as from the ECCC office (tel. 416 465 2219, . Aadress: 958 Broadview Ave., Toronto M4K 2R6).
The nomination form must have three references and the submission must include five dollars ($5.00), a passport-size photo and a 50-word biography. Deadline for registration of candidate nominations is October 7, 2011.
If you find that you have the time and desire to put your energy to the benefit of Canadian Estonian politics and culture, then please submit your nomination!
After all the nominations have been received, voting will take place. Those who can vote are those who have voted in the past, who have donated to ECCC and/or those who wish to vote this time. If you are not already on the voting list but wish to participate as a voter this time, please submit your name, address and birthdate to the ECCC office and we will add your name to the list of voters.
