Fall is here. So is the time of year when the Toronto Estonian Rifle and Pistol Club’s shooting season will shortly begin. As a result, all of our competitive shooters have resumed their training. Added to their ranks this year are a half-dozen new members who, we hope, will over time become seasoned competitors. It is our hope that they will help our teams finish the season on a winning streak.
Most of our novices joined our club the previous fall during our club’s first open house. As a result of this success, our club is currently planning a second open house for November 21st, to be held at the Estonian Hous shooting range. That Thursday night we plan to open our doors to all Estonians, young and old, who have an interest in the shooting sports. For those that don’t know where our range is - it is located on the fourth floor of the Estonian House at the top of the north staircase. For those who decide to join our club, we will train them in the proper handling of firearms and ensure that they will get the necessary safety courses that are mandated by law in order to be able to possess and procure firearms.
If anyone is not able to make it on that Thursday, but is still interested in shooting, then by all means, show up on any other club night. Our club night is Thursday, and there is usually someone at the range by 7:30 PM. Do not be afraid to disturb any of our members. They will be only too pleased to help you out. For further information, please contact Markus Alliksaar at 416 287-5761 (e mail: ) or our club secretary, Urmas Sui at 905 885-2214 )
A final thing to emphasize: the new Federal Gun Control Legislation requires that everybody register their long guns by December 31, 2002. If anybody requires any assistance or information in this regard, please drop by our range on club nights and we will be glad to assist you in any way that we can.
