My name is Melanie Mantenieks and I am a 2nd generation Latvian American and I am contacting European American organizations to let you know about my project to collect, share, and archive important stories from American and European families who either donated or received CARE packages and UNRRA relief aid after World War II.

I am doing this as a labor of love to honor the generosity of Americans who
helped European families, including mine, after the war and especially to
honor the resilience and courage of the European survivors of the war who
persevered despite incredible hardships, loss, and devastation of their
homelands.
