Estonian top searches on Google in 2021 focused on soccer, politics and TV personality
The key words Estonians used the most in the Google search engine in 2021 show that people were interested in the European Football Championships, Estonian local elections and national television ETV show host Grete Lõbu, Estonian public broadcaster ERR reports.
While 2020 was dominated by the coronavirus pandemic, in 2021 people turned to sports and entertainment - the most popular search was "Euro 2020". People also searched about politics, especially the local government elections in October, pension reform and electricity prices.
Some pandemic-related words did make it into the top-10, "terviseamet" ("Health Board") and "digiregistratuur" ("digital registry") were 7th and 8th according to the results.
The most searched person was ETV current affairs show "Ringvaade" host Grete Lõbu. President Alar Karis also made the list of popular people, as did tennis player Anett Kontaveit and Prime Minister Kaja Kallas.
