The church tower of historic Puhavaimu kirik was destroyed yesterday in a fire. An investigation has been initiated to determine the cause.

Foreign minister Kristiina Ojuland, in a meeting with the assistant speaker of the Russian Duma, Irina Hakamadaga, said that Estonia's accession to the European Union and NATO will help in the development of a better relationship between the two countries.

Ain Seppik, the interior minister just returned from Austria, says that Estonia does not support the creation of a unified border guard for the European Union.

As of June 1st all changes to legislation can be accessed electronically. This means changed legislation,in its new wording can be available withn seven days of enactment.

The title of the safest city title in Estonia was won by Kardla for the third year in a row and the title of the safest section of Tallinn was won by Nomme.

Saku beer company made a 730,000 crown profit in the first quarter of this year. Last year at the same time it lost 505,000 crowns.

According to Postimees, the restoration of the tower of Puhvaimu kirik will cost between 2-5,000,000 crowns and that Tallinn has promised to cover it.

Maaleht writes that the European Union will offocially porpose to Estonia that program of financial support and productyion quotas and will propse it in a "take it or leave it" fashion.
