Swedish king Carl XVI Gustaf and queen Silvia, on an unofficial visit to Estonia participated in the official re-opening of the Swedish Mihkli church and the museum in Haapsalu about Swedes living on the Estonian western coast.

Prince Michael of Kent will arrive in Estonia today, to familiarize himself with emergency services operations andhe will extend an invitation to the emergency se3rvices to participate in a foundation for child burn vicitims.

Riitta-Leena Paunio, Finland's ombudsman, is arriving on two-day visit to give seminars on individual rights in in the social services sector.

Estonia's defence minister is on a five day visit to Canada to meet with Canada's defence miniister Art Eggleton.

The heads of state of ten NATO candidate countries are meeting in Riga in July to discuss their preparations for accession and what has been achieved.

On the basis of legislation on chuches and congregations, the interior ministry has to date registered 27 congregations affiliated with the Moscow based orthodox church.
