Exhibit “Andrei D. Sakharov: Alarm and Hope” Opened in National Library
EMFA On Wednesday, 16 October at 16.00 the exhibit “Andrei D. Sakharov: Alarm and Hope” will be opened in the main exhibit hall of the Estonian National Library. The exhibit will be opened by Foreign Minister Urmas Paet.
The exhibit, which was organised on the initiative of Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner Thomas Hammarberg, serves to remind us of Sakharov’s peaceful and progressive vision of society based on human rights.
The exhibit strives to bring attention not only to Andrei D. Sakharov’s life work, but also to the activities of the Council of Europe in protecting and promoting human rights. Last year the Council of Europe celebrated its 60th anniversary and this year marks 60 years since the approval of the European Convention on Human Rights.
