The brochure provides statistics concerning food production, agricultural economic indicators, rural enterprise and employment statistics and fisheries in Estonia. The figures cover the years 2007-2012 (the current European Union financial framework).
Some conclusions that can be drawn from the data:
Employment levels in Estonian rural areas have stabilised in recent years and rural unemployment rate is showing a slight decrease.
The number of rural enterprises in Estonia is constantly increasing.
In 2007-2012, the percentage of agricultural areas in use has climbed steadily.
Databases of Statistics Estonia, Ministry of Agriculture, Estonian Agricultural Registers and Information Board (PRIA), Veterinary and Food Board and other authorities were used as sources in compiling the brochure. Editor of the publication is Merike Koov.
