The museum serves as a symbol of hope and a needed place of remembrance in a day when many are forgetting the high price communism exacted from the captive people and the rest of the free world. Its mission is to educate this generation and future generations about the history, philosophy and legacy of communism.

The Web site is dedicated to documenting the legacy of communism on a global level.

• From concept to completion, the site took eight months to produce.

• The site uses Drupal, a PHP-based open source content management system.

• Content includes several main exhibits, national exhibits, videos, photos and essays.

• The Victims Registry allows people to submit their experiences under communism in video, text or audio format.
