The government plans to cut subsidies for the development of green energy, said Minister of Economic Affairs Juhan Parts.
"The cabinet of ministers already has a position – that these subsidies should be corrected. And as soon as possible," Parts said today, speaking on ETV.
Under the current scheme, introduced in 2007 to help the nation meet its EU Energy Roadmap targets, a new green energy producer receives subsidies of 53.7 euros per megawatt hour, with an annual cap of 600 gigawatt hours, guaranteed for 12 years after production starts.
