Ellen Bishop is the only Estonian born fashion design artist who made a name for herself in the North American fashion industry prior to the introduction of computers in the early 80’s. Ellen is also proudly Estonian and her works depicting Estonian Folk costumes grace many Estonian public buildings and Estonian homes. Her works are also available for purchase and viewing in her gallery at the virtual gallery at www.tevag.ca.
Ellen contributes her longevity to the love of sports in her early years, where she was a huge tennis enthusiast. To keep her mind sharp, she was also a lover of the card game bridge, where she always found partners to play with.
Ellen Bishop has been a long standing member of the Society of Estonian Artists in Toronto (EKKT), and has exhibited in many shows and supported the Society through donations.
Wishing Ellen all the best as she celebrates 100 years of circumventing the sun. She has left her footprint in the fashion world and has significantly helped preserve Estonian culture through her artwork. Born a day after St. Patrick’s Day, let’s all raise a glass and toast Ellen Bishop on her milestone birthday!
