Jane Trepp wins swimming silver

Jane Trepp became the first Estonian woman swimmer ever to earn a medal at the European Short-Course Swimming Championships. Trepp won a silver medal last week on Thursday, December 10 in the 50-metre breaststroke on the opening day of the 2009 ESCSC meet in Istanbul. After leading with 10 metres to go Trepp finished with a time of 29.82 seconds, just 14 one-hundredths of a second off the winning time and course-record mark of 29.68 registered by Moniek Nijhuis of the Netherlands.

Trepp is one of a growing number of Estonian athletes attending American universities. She is also the co-captain of the Louisiana State University Lady Tigers swim team.
