July 3 – August 13, 2005
Since 1953 Jõekääru has been a summer camp for 5-15 year-old children of Estonian heritage offering a fun-filled variety of activities. The camp is located near the town of Uxbridge, in the village of Udora. Directions and map are available on our website - www.joekaaru.ca
Increased popularity and attendance in recent years have motivated the organizers of Jôekääru to expand camp operations from the typical 4 weeks to 6 weeks starting this summer.
In parallel, the popularity of the Estonian language Immersion programme (first introduced some 5 years ago) has also increased year over year. This programme will also be expanded this summer. Immersion will be offered for the first 2 weeks (July 3-17, 2005) and the last week (August 7-13, 2005). This programme offers the opportunity for children who speak little to no Estonian to enjoy the camp experience and pick up some basics of the Estonian language and culture.
The camper groups are divided by age:
“väikesed” 5-8 year olds;
“keskmised” 9-12 year olds;
“suured” 13-15 year olds.
Registration information is available on our website www.joekaaru.ca or from Linda Karuks, 42 Harrington Cres. North York, ON, M2M 2Y5. E-mail: tel: (416) 590-9725. Each child must complete a Jôekääru registration form as well as a Jôekääru health form (available on the website).
