Kairi Hemingway has announced her resignation after four years as President of the Estonian Central Council in Canada.
"After much contemplation, I have decided that it is time for me to step down from this position and for new leadership to bring new ideas and energy to the Council," said Kairi Hemingway in her resignation letter.
While stepping down from a leadership position, Kairi will stay as a firm supporter of the EKN. "While I am stepping down from my role as President, please rest assured that I remain committed to supporting EKN where possible, and its mission. I have confidence in the capable hands of the current and incoming leadership and trust that they will continue to lead EKN with integrity and vision."
Kairi has represented EKN at numerous Stand with Ukraine events, expressing support of Estonian Canadians for Ukraine in her speeches. Highlights of Kairi’s term include the presentation of EKN Medal of Merit to the late Brian Mulroney, Canadian Prime Minister 1984-1993, and Gold Medal of Merit to Helgi Leesment (Victoria B.C.), at the 75th anniversary celebration of Vancouver Estonian Association. Kairi also served as President of Baltic Federation for 4 years, and treasurer and secretary of EKN.
