Korp! Amicitia 80!
The Toronto chapter of the Estonian women¹s sorority Korp! Amicitia celebrated their organization¹s 80th anniversary this past weekend with a great deal of hoopla and gusto. The celebrations started on Friday night at Tartu College, continued on Saturday at the Estonian House and finished with a scrumptious brunch at the Latvian House on Sunday. Pictured above is the "rebasvanem" Maaja Uukkivi (front row, 4th from the left), who is responsible for the welfare of the new pledges, five of whom "earned their colours" and thereby attained full membership during the ceremonial proceedings on Friday evening: Kersti-Li Fischer, Sirje Simm, Monika Saaliste, Monika Kastelic and Kaili Maimets. The remaining black-capped pledges are looking forward to earning that much desired status a year from now: 2nd row Krista Eichenbaum, Katrina Müür, Maiki Teene, Kristiina Aasa, Milvi Tiislar and 3rd row Marja Kimsto, Karen Must, Juula Roman, Silvia Aarlaht, Anneli Must, Tormi Kimsto, LH, Kaili Yalle and Karolina Nahkor.
