Latvia’s 74-year-old Alfreds Rubiks won a seat in the EU Parliament 18 years after backing a coup attempting to keep his country part of the Soviet Union. The former Politburo member was top of the list of the pro-Russian Harmon y Centre party, which came in second in Latvia’s European vote
