An excellent opportunity to study the Estonian language is offered for teenagers and adults on the third floor of the Toronto Estonian House (Eesti Maja), under the auspices of the supplementary schools program of the Estonian Association of Toronto. Classes begin on Tuesday, September 13th at 7:00 p.m.
Classes are offered at the beginner and advanced levels. In both classes the emphasis is on spoken Estonian, including slang. Participants will gain insight into grammar as well, and learn Estonian songs. Class size is small and we have a lot of fun! Beginners should register with Piret Komi at 416 752 4475 and advanced students with Tiia Remmelkoor at 416 769-5743. They will be happy to provide additional information to interested parties. In the photo we see Tiia and Piret with their students at their end of school year party.
As with previous years, there will be a class for younger children who have never learned Estonian before and wish to do so now. It takes place on Tuesday evenings, from 7:00 9:10 p.m. on the basement level of the Toronto Estonian House. Please contact Tiiu Kajak at 416 261-5107.
This would be a worthwhile continuation of the “Estonian immersion week” that took place at Jõekääru Estonian Children’s Camp this past summer, or a useful start for those who hope to attend next summer!
