Toronto, Feb 24 – Esteemed Canadian international lawyer Robert Amsterdam, will give a lecture and discussion session on current issues in Russia, Ukraine, The Baltic States and Eastern Europe on March 8, 2011 at Tartu College in Toronto .
The former lawyer for Mikhail Khodorkovsky – the highest profile Russian political prisoner in recent memory – Mr. Amsterdam is seen as a key outside spokesman for the Russian human rights and opposition movement and continues to shed critical light on the corrupt, authoritarian clan currently in the Kremlin.
In a recent Toronto Star profile, Mr. Amsterdam was called Canada’s human rights crusader and a global, pioneering leader in international law and human rights.
The event is being organized by the Central and Eastern European Council in Canada, an umbrella organization for all of the Central and Eastern European community leaders in Canada and representing nearly 4 million Canadians.
